Curate through awe and curiosity, and the result moves people. Thoughtfully curated collections uncover new perspectives and allow you to connect with others who are fascinated with the world around them.
Through our books and this blog, we invite you into the creative process. Into the sparks, deep dives, and fascinations that evolve into remarkable collections such as the Dorow Collection.
One of our favorite parts of the design process is speaking with the collectors themselves. When Jason first stepped into the Dorow Collection, a private gallery in Hawaii, Tatiana Dorow didn't lead with specimen lists. Instead, she invited him to sit quietly among the crystals. No words, just a presence—a moment to experience the collection's energy before trying to define it.
The beauty of the crystals deepens into fascination once you learn to decipher the clues they carry, remnants of the geological forces that shaped our planet.
Everyone experiences the collection differently. Some are drawn to a specific hue, a rare inclusion or dramatic formation. Others arrive searching for something else—a statement piece, a meditative calm or simply following their curiosity. Your intention shapes what you see.
The same is true of the book. ARQUIVISTAS, Portuguese for "archivist", lands differently with every reader. As we began the design process, our own understanding of the crystals changed entirely after seeing how Matthew & Jessica Roharik used photography & set design to reveal each specimen's brilliance.
We've combed through the layouts of this book hundreds of times, and still, each revisit reveals a new glimmer.
What started in a quiet room filled with crystals rippled into a collaboration, a book, and a publishing company.
We hope ARQUIVISTAS speaks to you, too. Click the link to visit our online bookshop.
